Castillo Hotel Son Vida - Adults Only, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Mallorca

“Overall, we had a good stay at Castillo Hotel Son Vida, but our feelings were somewhat mixed. The staff were generally friendly, spoke excellent English, and provided professional service. The views from the hilltop were beautiful, especially considering how close the hotel is to Palma. The pool staff were also very attentive, and I think this is a great place for guests who want a quiet and relaxing holiday. That said, Palma itself turned out to be more charming and atmospheric than we expected. Although there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, getting to and from the city was not always convenient. In the evening, after a certain time, the return bus no longer stops directly in front of the hotel. A regular taxi from Palma cost us less than EUR 15, but Uber was around EUR 30, so this is something to keep in mind. We arrived at the hotel at around 3:00 p.m. and were offered an upgrade, but because of that we could not check in until around 5:30 p.m. This was not an issue for us, as we accepted the offer knowing that the room would take longer to be ready. The room was indeed a suite, but to be honest, it was a little disappointing that it did not have a balcony. At other places in Mallorca, we really enjoyed sitting outside, feeling the breeze and taking in the scenery, so compared with that, the atmosphere here felt slightly less special. The hotel was very good overall, and we appreciated the service, but it did not feel as luxurious as we had expected. I would still recommend it, especially for people looking for a calm resort stay near Palma, but I think it is a hotel where you should carefully consider whether the location and style really fit what you are looking for.”

“The hotel owner held a private party tonight. Our room, 751, overlooks the terrace where the event took place. The noise level was deafening, making sleep impossible, and our room has no double glazing to block it out. When I first contacted reception, I was assured the party would finish by 23:00. It continued until at least 23:30. On my second call, the staff member was extremely unprofessional and rude, stating only that it was the owner’s event and nothing could be done — before ending the call abruptly. Subsequent calls went unanswered. When I went down to the front desk personally, the same staff member was dismissive and hostile. He ignored me completely and retreated to the back area. When I began recording for evidence, he threatened to call the police. We have been loyal guests at this hotel for twelve years running. This experience has been completely unacceptable, and we will not be returning. There are many hotels across Mallorca that value their guests and uphold proper service standards.”

“The hotel is beautiful, with a historical touch. The location is also great. The only problem we had was the bar staff at the pool. Very rude and refused to serve us several times and we were told that their shift was ending. Very unprofessional behavior, you could say it another way. I wouldn't see that as such a problem, but then German-speaking clients were served, since the staff was apparently receiving high tips from them. When I confronted the employee, who told me that he would no longer serve us and that I saw that he had taken and brought orders from other clients, he just grinned mockingly and said that I should go one floor higher to the bar and ask what I needed there and left. This happened to us several times at the pool during our entire stay. I'm sorry, because we paid a lot of money for a vacation and in a hotel of this type I don't expect such an unprofessional approach from the staff. It ruined our whole impression of the hotel.”

“We had an amazing stay at Son Castillo Vida. From the moment we arrived, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and that feeling stayed throughout the whole visit. The service was very nice all the time. The spa is awesome, really relaxing, beautifully done, and a great place to switch off. The food was outstanding, every meal was fresh, well prepared, and honestly one of the highlights of the stay. The rooms are beautiful, very comfortable, and everything is done to a high standard. Overall, everything just worked perfectly. It’s one of those places where you don’t have to think or worry about anything, you can just enjoy your time. Would absolutely recommend and would love to come back.”

“Pretty run down for a 5 star luxury hotel. Paint peeling off walls,chipped furniture, etc. Not impressed. It was warm weather and Spa pool area was way too hot to use, or even to swim in the indoor pool. Spa area looked unkempt, dirty and outdated. All the windows and glass were very dirty. Unsitely for a spa! It put me off having a massage. Staff looked sloppy,on their phones and unmotivated. The Indoor pool area was poorly designed and poorly ventilated, no Aircon or even a fan there made it unusable! It was Boiling! Spa needs a remodel, dirty and outdated. Spa drinks area looked sloppy. Service overall is lack. Staff doesn't go out of the way to help you. The spa, room service, etc, never answer the phone. When we were at the pool, no one really came to offer us drinks or food at all. A bit far from Palma center and a bit noisy on the balcony of our room with hedges being trimmed all day by loud electric trimmers. Not relaxing. So for this I'd stay in the city next time. Definitely the hotel overall needs more maintenance, care, tlc and a total upgrade remodel. Better staff training needed too. Drinks were overpriced and not very good. Bar looked old outdated, and had dirty upholestry. Hopefully they will work on improving staff service and put some money back into the building. A bit disappointed, a 5 star it is not.”
